Sustainably erotic and a sensual shade of green

27 03 2010

It all started very innocently….I had no idea it would grow into an….oh I don’t even like to use the word…obsession.  Ok so maybe the O word is a bit on the dramatic side but I do spend a considerable amount of time thinking about it and looking at it.  When it’s good it makes my heart pound and even the not so good can put a smile on my face.

Oh stop, that’s not what I’m talking about!

I’m talking about my design desires.  They are something that can’t be satisfied with the P’ Barns and C & Barrels of the world.  I am titillated by handcrafted art and deeply satisfied by objects used and reused.  Nothing satisfies better than a good repurposing, a slap of paint and the kiss of new life.

Yes people, there is good design out there that isn’t pimped out on every street corner with sassy names like Adler, Knoll and the oh so seductive Dania.  Don’t get me wrong they are attractive and can perform with the best of them….it’s just that my proclivities run to something with a bit more attitude….and yes a bit rougher.

Nothing beats the thrill of the hunt and the climax of that successful catch.  The catch of something rare, beautifully useful and why not (it is my fantasy after all)….a bargain too!

Ecoterica is my expression of what I think is relevant and sexy in design.  Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t do it for me…..I like mine green and sustainable but with a bad boy attitude and a little danger to spice things up.  Sparks fly and the connection juices flow when I am touched by a sustainably soulful built environment.

….aaaahhhh…..if I smoked I’d have a cigarette right now.
